Welcome to EFI Electronics
Utility industry experts estimate that problems resulting from transient voltage surges cost U.S. companies a stunning $32 billion annually. That figure not only includes the high price of direct damage to electrical distribution systems, electronic equipment, software and tools, but also the crippling cost of lost productivity. Facility downtime, lost data, lost orders and the disruption of critical processes can seriously reduce productivity. This means that minimizing the risk of damage from electrical surges should be an absolute priority for companies of all types, all across the globe.
As a result, EFI Electronics has been advancing the technology of surge protection for nearly 30 years. Today, EFI provides the most complete and comprehensive portfolio of Surge Protective Devices in the Industry - from the simplest residential systems to mission-critical commercial and industrial applications.
UNRIVALED EXPERIENCE
EFI brings to the industry a unique combination of expertise.
First, EFI’s understanding of electrical disturbances is unmatched in the industry.
Second, EFI’s parent companies; Square D and Schneider Electric, are the world leaders in power systems and electrical distribution equipment. This unique combination helps EFI deliver products and services that assure maximum performance to our customers.
UNRIVALED TESTING
EFI Electronics is committed to providing our customers with products that deliver the maximum in performance and value. At our world headquarters in Salt Lake City, Utah, we have created one of the world’s leading laboratories dedicated to testing and evaluating SPD technologies. This unique LightningLab™ makes EFI one of the few locations in the world that can perform high-energy transient tests up to 175,000 amps to simulate true lightning conditions.
UNRIVALED TECHNOLOGY
Long before current standards were adopted, EFI was developing transient voltage suppression technology that has become the industry model. EFI revolutionized surge suppression technology with the development of multi-stage hybrid surge suppression that optimizes protection through the combination of basic suppression components.
An example of one of EFI’s most copied technologies is our Sinewave Tracker™ circuitry which establishes the power surge clamping window relative to the sine wave voltage, rather than at a fixed voltage. Other EFI innovations that have now become industry standards are multiple diagnostics that alert the user of power or outlet problems and the use of thermal fusing to avoid overheating and catastrophic events due to sustained over voltages.
Most recently, EFI has been a leading voice involving industry changing standards through the National Electric Code and UL 1449 to assure safe application and design standards throughout the industry. After nearly 30 years, EFI continues to lead the industry with design improvements and industry leading service to maximize our value to our customers.
